Beth Warkentin's Story
Oct, 2004
Beth Warkentin spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy, 3 years in the Navy Reserve, amd 3 years in the Pennsylvania National Guard. She attended Navy Boot Camp in 1985 in Orlando, Florida, where she received one dose of anthrax vaccine. She was told she didn't need more shots at the time. Since the, Beth has come down with Systemic Lupus, rashes, fevers that come and go, flu-like symptoms, swollen glands, memory loss, major fatigue and frequent infections, even in minor cuts. Beth feels the fact that both children were born by C-section and that one of her children is is bi-polar can be traced directly to the anthrax vaccine. If so, she is one of a large number Gulf War Vets who have an uncommonly high percentage of children born with difficulties.Beth writes: "Some days, I don't understand why I'm so sick all the time, and I feel as thought people think I only complain and that I'm well.......it's hard, but you know that. Yesterday, I woke to find that my hands, joints up to my elbows were so swollen, that I couldn't see my wedding ring. That was a little scary. I was diagnosed a month ago with hypertension as well as everything else, and have a claim in now with SS disablilty. I miss work so much..." January, 2002
